Charlie Fee died of natural causes at his home in Valley Springs on Saturday, June 27, 2015.
He was born on November 2, 1922 in Medina County, Texas
to Charles Scott and Ellen Eugenia Tobey Fee.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from Texas A & M. His studies were interrupted by WWII, volunteering for service in 1942 and spending four years with the 96th Infantry
Division fighting the Pacific war.
He fought in the battle of Leyte gulf, Okinawa and Mindanao. Charlie was wounded twice, hospitalized on Guam and received the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster. A Staff Sergeant, he was
en route to invade the island of Japan when the war ended.
After he completed his studies he married Joan Dew in Yorktown, Texas. Charlie was an accomplished builder who specialized in concrete structures.
During his life he had many occupations. In the early '50's, after 18 months teaching agriculture to returning veterans in Bandera, Texas, he built homes on the San Francisco Penninsula, then returned to Texas and built custom homes in Corpus Christi.
In 1963 he moved to Paradise, California and worked on the construction of the Oroville Dam. He spent the rest of his working life with the General Construction Division of PG&E, retiring at age 63.
Charlie and Joan enjoyed a wonderful retirement, traveling by motor home throughout North American and playing golf at their home in Sun City, AZ.
He was elected to the Board of Governors of the Sun City Country Club and was an avid golfer and connoisseur of well-aged Scotch.
Charlie was proud to have shot two holes-in-one at the Sun City Country Club course. He also enjoyed music and was a big bull-riding fan. He was a Lifetime Member of the BPOE- the Elks.
Charlie was well known for his humor, patience and good heart, was an excellent father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his wife Joan of Valley Springs, his three sons Cary Charles and wife Sandy of Capay, Scott and wife Becky of Valley Springs and Andy and wife Lynn of Valley Springs; grandchildren Lindsay A. Fee of Chico, Laurel A. Fee of Mountain View, Jade A Fee Quail of San Jose, Alex A Fee of San Francisco and Davis M. Fee of Valley Springs; great-grandchildren Jack A Jemison and Felix A Miller of Chico; and sister Blix Gammenthaler of The Woodlands, Texas.
Charlie was predeceased by his sisters Oneta Runk of Bayside, Texas and Natalie Orand of Lovington, New Mexico.
The family would like to thank and commend the people of Bristol Hospice of Stockton for their service and support.
Services are being planned and will be announced later. San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
