Shooting in Bar XX

  UPDATE:  A reader tells us that this shooting was in Circle XX instead of Bar XX. Thank you for the update.

   According to the Calaveras Sheriff's Office, on June 28, 2015 at around 11:50 AM, deputies responded to a report of a male subject trying to force his way into a home
on the 6000 block of Chaparohos Street in Bar XX, threatening to kill 29-year-old Derek Rutherford.

   The occupant armed himself with a hand gun in fear for his safety.  The male subject continued to threaten Rutherford and to force entry when a third party arrived.

   The male suspect then turned his focus on her and told Rutherford that he would kill the female.

   Derek Rutherford exited the residence, shooting the male suspect multiple times.  The suspect succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

   Derek Rutherford was questioned about the incident and released.  The investigation is ongoing.

   The deceased male is identified as Ronald Richard Farmer II, 26 years old from Tuolumne City. If you have any information or knowledge of the incident, please contact the Calaveras Sheriff's Office at 754-6030.
