We are going to quote an article written by Nick Baptista and published in The Valley Springs News titled "Marijuana shop opponent says he was assaulted"!
"Hard feelings following public testimony at Tuesday's Board of Supervisor's meeting whether a
medical marijuana collective should receive county permission to continue operating at its existing site reportedly spilled into an alleged assault.
Bill McManus, who spoke in opposition to Forgotten Knowledge Collective's pursuit of a rezone and administrative use permit to legalize the operation at Nove Plaza, filed a report Tuesday with the Sheriff's Office, saying he was verbally and physically assaulted by Guy Meyers, the collective's founder and director, shortly after the board denied Meyers' request.
The incident took place in the hallway to the Board of Supervisor Chambers, McManus told the Sheriff's Office.
According to the report filed with the Sheriff's Office, McManus said Meyers approached him with his hand out, then jerked McManus's arm and said "I'm going to sue you for libel." Meyers then let go and with his right hand struck McManus on the back.
"I took this as a sign of aggression," McManus told The Valley Springs News.
Earlier, Meyers disrupted McManus's testimony before the board and prompted Board Chairman Cliff Edson's rebuke of the action saying he wanted to make it clear it was inappropriate behavior to interrupt those who were at the podium addressing the board.
McManus said he has a bad shoulder and suffered some pain and discomfort.
The sheriff's report is being sent to the District Attorney's Office, said Lt. Chris Hewitt of the Sheriff's Office, and that office will make a determination whether to file any charges.
The Valley Springs News called Forgotten Knowledge and left a message for Meyers, but he had not returned the call prior to press time on Thursday."
