We have been told that the Butte fire has jumped the roadway and is approaching the Fricot City area, where there are many homes. Avery Sheep Ranch Road is blocked in that area.
We have not heard any specific evacuation orders for Fricot City but it may be part of the San Andreas evacuations.

rite of passage houses "juvenile criminals" from all over CA. not just LA County. As a former student that attended the academy, I was no criminal, simply a kid that would not live on foster care. they need help too. more to protect there than sheep ranch!
Are you also one of their many escapees who ransacked my house and got away with it.
To juvenile innocent. So, you believe your "school" with the druggie alcoholic instructor, is better that the whole town of Sheep Ranch?
I doubt that was a student"juvenile". more likely an employee. They alwasys lie to cover for their treatment of the neighbors, abusive behavior, etc
I big to differ with "juvenile". I worked hard to fix up my property in the Sheep Ranch area. What on earth are you thinking that ROP is more valuable. How dare you???
I don't think the former student was saying that ROP is more important than homes in the area, I think he meant that ROP does house a lot of people and it's important to protect the school as well. I'm a teacher at ROP and have been with ROP for 5 years. I love working with those boys, and although there are students who have made some extremely bad choices, especially if they choose to run from site, it's not realistic to make generalizations about every student there. I trust most of those boys more than I do the general public. Let us all please stay respectful, as the fire is impacting us all. Not only am I praying that they save the school, but I live in the area and slept at a shelter last night. I also have friends in the area and my thoughts and prayers are for EVERYONE being impacted by this horrendous fire, including the fire fighters. Attacking my boys and our school doesn't change the fact that our county is on fire. Good thoughts and luck to everyone.
Thank you to teacher at ROP. I APPRECIATE YOU AND ALL YOU DO! Well said!
This makes me so sad. As a former employee of SRA, I remember the strained relationship that the group home had with the community..I would expect, though, in times of such strife, that the COMMUNITY would band together; not continue to point fingers.
I urge you to figure out what is truly important right now. Pointing blame? Is that really higher on your agenda than ensuring that you and your neighbors are safe?
Lastly; if by the grace of God the community is spared, I also urge you to spend some time at the school. You would see that the kids are not demons and are no more capable of doing damage to your property than a Brett Harte grad. They are just kids that live close to you in a higher concentration.
Be neighborly. Be a good human. Thanks.
