UPDATE on September 18, 2015 at 10:45 AM: Per CCWD the only people whose water was disrupted by the Butte Fire was in Sheep Ranch. All other areas are fine.
In one of the many press releases to come out of Calaveras County in the past three days, one item which was lower down in the release from yesterday was: DO NOT DRINK THE WATER!
It seems that the reason CCWD set up free water station access is because their water, especially in the Sheep Ranch area, is not safe to drink. They say to drink bottled water or to boil the water for at least one minute and let it cool before drinking.
