According to the CHP report on September 12, 2015 around 5:50 PM a 48 year old man from Antioch was driving a 2005 Nissan northbound on Obyrnes Ferry Road
at approximately 30 MPH approaching Hwy 4.
A white Dodge Ram 1500, driven by James G. Rohn, Jr. (68) of Angels Camp, was driving a 2015 Dodge eastbound on Hwy 4 at approximately 55 MPH, approaching Obyrnes Ferry Road.
The driver of the Nissan failed to stop for the posted stop sign at Hwy 4 and traveled into the intersection directly into the path of Rohn's Dodge.
As a result, the front of the Dodge collided with the left side of the Nissan. The driver of the Nissan was pronounced deceased at the scene. The coroner will be releasing the name when the family has been notified.
All four passengers in the Ram, three were children, were airlifted to hospitals. Hwy 4 was closed for 1 1/2 hours for air ambulances to land and evacuate the injured.
Mr. Rohn was not injured in the collision. Alcohol and drugs was not considered to be a factor in this collision. An investigation is ongoing.
The passenger in the Dodge was Karen Rohn (72) of Angels Camp, who had minor injuries and sought her own aid.
