| Head-on collision occurred on one of the tight curves on Hwy 4 above Murphys. |
The white car ended up hitting the rock wall on Hwy 4 just above the Utica Powerhouse. Three ambulances took people with major injuries to the hospital.
Friday night traffic headed up to the mountains for the 3 day holiday was backed up to Angels Camp without moving for nearly an hour.
CHP and tow trucks took a dangerous chance traveling up the wrong side of Hwy 4 to reach the collision as some were making u-turns and heading back down the hill.

There were people out of their cars talking to others on the highway. One almost caused another collision.
I saw one guy who was stopping cars coming down to ask what was going on. That almost caused an accident too. People just don't think.
