A very interesting thing happened at CCWD's meeting on October 14, 2015.
For the first time ever, three young women were paraded into the Board meeting (with customers put on hold during the time), in order to praise them for their devoted service.
The women were wearing CCWD logo shirts that matched. We were not aware, and had never seen these employees wear matching CCWD logo shirts. Do all employees have and always wear these matching shirts?
This was not an agendized item, yet they were given written awards by Chair Underhill. Photos were taken all around.
On the very next item (that WAS on the agenda) was a change of classification for these employees, including an 18% pay raise while ratepayers pay through the nose.
Was this a coincidence? Do we look stupid??
Although this never went through the finance committee, and clearly these women are deserving of the big raise, it was questioned by a Board member and a member of the public.
Nevertheless, the item passed and the raise was put in place. One Board member asked for clarification on what should or should not be reviewed by the finance
committee before being put on the Board agenda for approval.
