Calaveras Sheriff reports on Railroad Flat murders

   UPDATE at 10:45 AM:  After reviewing the arrest records posted at the Calaveras Sheriff's Office, that both men lived in Volcano, and that one was released on bond, we have requested that PIO Eberhart verify the facts for us.  We will let you know.

According to the Calaveras Sheriffs Office press release they sent at 10:05 AM on October 21, 2015, on October 20, 2015 at around 9:20 AM deputies responded to a parcel of land on the 1400 block of South Railroad Flat Road near Railroad Flat for a third party report of a shooting, whereas three people were reportedly shot.

   Upon arrival deputies discovered three deceased adult male Caucasians, two of which were lying on a dirt roadway and the third was lying off the roadway.

  Medical personnel responded and confirmed that all three victims were deceased.

   Investigators were told the following:  During the early morning hours of October 20, 2015, an adult male, identified as Leon Michael Grammer (38 years old), who resides at the address, encountered at least three trespassing subjects on his property that were allegedly stealing marijuana from a medical marijuana garden that was located on the property.

   Mr. Grammer telephoned his brother, Jeremiah Lee Barrett (30 years old), of Jackson, and asked him to respond to the property.

  Mr. Grammer allegedly armed himself with a firearm and discharged several rounds towards the trespassers.

   Upon arrival, Mr. Barrett confronted the three subjects running on the roadway and allegedly shot them with a shotgun.

   Grammer and Barrett were interviewed by detectives and were subsequently arrested.

   Leon Michael Grammer was booked into the Calaveras County Jail on the alleged charges of Penal Code 32 (Accessory) and Penal Code 182 (Conspiracy) bail $30,000.

   Jeremiah Lee Barrett was booked into the jail on charges of Penal Code 187 (Murder) and Penal Code 182 (Conspiracy), Bail $2,500,000.

   Released of identification on the three decedents will be pending next of kin notification. An autopsy has been scheduled later this week.
