Calaveras Supervisors going back to weekly meetings! Shame on Edson!!

Finally, after at least two years of not wanting to see the public or listen to their complaints, the Calaveras Supervisors have agreed (minus Debbie Ponte) to go back to weekly meetings.

This is due to the public and the Supervisors getting angry over not being kept well-informed by the Administration on the status of the Butte Fire and recovery.

Like a total bureaucrat, one kept defending staff and stated NOT wanting to meet every week. "Leave it to staff!" were the words used.

Even Chair Edson complained about lack of communication.  The public complained about a lack of leadership, which is what we agree with, has been ongoing ever since the fire started.

Apparently the Supervisors just learned that Sheriff Kuntz had dumped the emergency responsibilities back on the Administration over two weeks ago.

Kuntz has been the biggest disappointment, with an inability to handle a leadership role during and after the Butte Fire. This is very sad, but very true. We watched it every day.

Incompetence, unwillingness to do something different to help people that were traumatized by this fire, and OLD AGE (some of them should have already retired, not able to handle this emergency).

And the debacle of the CAO's office putting out non-helpful press releases with numbers no one ever answered, is all now becoming public.

Mr. Moss, recently appointed to the CAO's office, is totally out of his element and should also retire.

Calaveras County should be ashamed of their handling of the Butte Fire emergency from the first day, and Supervisor Edson, who laughed when he was told he was the head of the Office of Emergency Services, is the worst of all.

Now, Edson attempts to act like he was always in charge, but no one ever told him what was going on. We feel sorry for Supervisor Wright, who at least has his head on straight and wants to help the residents devastated by the Butte Fire.

All that matter now is trying to help the traumatized victims of the Butte Fire!! What is wrong with all of you?? Those trailers still sit over in Sacramento!!

Edson's outrage is election rhetoric.
As to weekly meetings, look at Tuesday's agenda; very limited to keep the cost down.
Should the county report the money they will rake in for permits. Should it be disclosed to the public how the clean up union will rake in money from the temporary union members being hired for the clean up. Transparency of all the money that will be exchanged should be discussed at the weekly meetings. A count should be kept and reported publicly of the burned out. properties that will not be rebuilt. Will the General Plan designation "Legacy Disadvantaged Communities" be changed to Legacy Devastated Communities?
