Car vs pole in Rancho Calaveras

 UPDATE at 5 PM:   This collision has been cleared up. Roadway is open in both directions; Injury was minor.

UPDATE at 3:45 PM:  Once vehicle is towed, traffic will be open for one-way traffic.


 UPDATE at 12:30 PM:  The roadway will be closed for at least two more hours, per CHP.


   UPDATE:  CHP now says this is a major injury collision.

 UPDATE at 9:55 AM:  Hwy 26 is still blocked at that location.
It isn't yet known when it will be reopened. Avoid the area. Power lines are down in the roadway.


  October 31, 2015 at 9 AM:  CHP and other emergency personnel are still at the scene of an earlier car vs. pole collision on Hwy 26 and Olive Branch Drive in Rancho Calaveras.

   The vehicle was reportedly fully engulfed with possible victims inside. An ambulance, PG& E and Caltrans were called to the scene. Fire department waiting for help due to live transformer having fallen inside the vehicle.
