West Point man arrested for alleged Firearms-TAZED!

  UPDATE:  Per CHP on October 25, 2015 at approximately 5:03 PM Officer J. Wion (ID 20713) was traveling southbound on Bummerville Road, south of Winton Road in West Point) when he attempted to make a stop on a vehicle for multiple vehicle code violations.

   As Officer J. Wion attempted to make an enforcement stop the driver/suspect failed to comply and a pursuit through West Point ensued.

   The pursuit lasted for approximately two hours and involved multiple allied agencies.

   The pursuit terminated at the intersection of Hwy 26 and Woodhouse Mine Road. The driver/suspect exited the vehicle but failed to comply with Officers commands.

   The driver/suspect was TAZED but continued to flee on foot..  An allied agencies K-9 was deployed and the driver/suspect was successfully taken into custody.

   The driver/suspect Eric Eugene Rummerfield was booked into the Calaveras County Jail on multiple alleged firearm, drug and resisting arrest related charges.

     On October 25, 2015, according to the Calaveras Sheriff, Eric Eugene Rummerfield (30) of West Point, was arrested at Woodhouse Mine Road and Hwy 26 for several alleged penal code violations.

   Rummerfield was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged Possession of a Firearm by a Felon or Addict, Vehicle Theft, Prohibited Ammunition, Evading a Peace Officer without Regard to Safety, having a Concealed Firearm with Prior Conviction, Violation of Parole, and Carrying a Loaded Firearm in a Public Place, all felonies and for Driving without a License, Obstruction or Resisting arrest, DUI of any Drug, Failure to Obey a peace officer, being under the Influence of a Controlled Substance , Possession of a Controlled Substance and Reckless Driving on the Highway, all misdemeanors.
