According to CHP on December 7, 2015 Ashley Henry (26) of San Andreas was driving a KIA eastbound on Church Hill Road, and was stopped at the stop sign at Hwy 49.
Kelsey Orlopp (18) of Valley Springs was driving a Mazda northbound on Hwy 49 approaching Church Hill Road.
Henry felt it was safe and continued in an easterly direction through the intersection towards Main Street.
Orlopp suddenly observed the KIA traveling directly into the path of her vehicle, applied the brakes in a attempt to avoid a collision but was unable to do so in time.
Subsequently, the front of the KIA struck the left side of the Mazda. The initial impact caused the Mazda to veer to the right until the right front of the Mazda struck the raised concrete curb on Hwy 49.
The driver of the KIA and her 2 year old passenger Lillian Henry were both transported to Mark Twain Medical Center for minor injuries.
Alcohol and/or drugs are not a factor in this collision.
