Per CHP on January 28, 2016 at 3:30 AM David Hunter (55) of Pleasanton was driving a 1992 Ford Econoline southbound on Hwy 49 south of Red Hill Road in San Andreas at approximately 60 MPH while fleeing from the Calaveras County Sheriff's Department.
The driver lost control of the vehicle while traveling through a left curve in the roadway and collided into a metal guardrail on the west side of Hwy 49.
The vehicle then traveled back to its left, across the northbound lane and collided into a dirt embankment on the east side of Hwy 49.
The vehicle rolled onto its right side and came to rest blocking the northbound lane.
David Hunter was taken to Mark Twain Hospital with minor injuries and placed under arrest by the Calaveras County Sheriff's Department.
The collision is still under investigation. CHP does not believe alcohol and/or drugs were a factor in this collision.
