Glenwood (Glen) Lorin Jordan of White Pines passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on January 13, 2016. He was 92.
Glen was born on May 11, 1923 to parents Andrew F. and Kate (Reister) Jordan of Melones.
He was a fourth generation resident of Calaveras County.
During his teenage years Glen worked in his father's butcher shops located in Altaville, Angels Camp and Arnold.
In 1942 he joined the US Army and fought in both France and Germany during WWII as part of the 13th Armored Division.
After completion of his honorable service in the military, Glen returned to Calaveras County, where he met and married the love of his life, Annabelle James in 1949.
Glen worked for Blagen Lumber Company and then went on to work for the California Department of Forestry, where he was employed until his retirement in 1982.
Glen is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Annabelle, his four children and their spouses; Jim and Esther Jordan of Angels Camp, Tone and Janet Jordan of Avery, Tim and Linda Jordan of Yuba City, Tami (Jordan) and Ron Ruisi of Arnold, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Glen was preceded in death by his brother Lloyd Jordan and sister Evelyn (Jordan) Lompa.
A Memorial Service will be held at Independence Hall (1445 Blagen Road) in White Pines on January 30, 2016 at 2 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donation be made in memory of Glen Jordan to Operation Mend, care of Ric Ryan at P.O. Box 1674, Murphys, Ca 95247.
Angels Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.

Wasn't Glen one of the first people to win some photo contest in the Sierra Sentinel? Seems to me he was in a covered wagon in Angels during a parade or something?
