According to a CHP report on February 4, 2016 around 3:10 PM Steve Chapman (67) of Groveland was driving a 2003 GMC pickup northbound through the parking lot of the museum and library near Hwy 120 and Ferretti road.
Chapman was intending to park there as he is a volunteer at the museum when he began having a cardiac arrest.
As he lost consciousness, he tried to brake, but hit the gas instead, turning to the left, causing the pickup to hit the front of a 2015 Nissan that was already legally parked.
The GMC was pushing the Nissan sideways, observed by a FedEx employee, Bruce Faber. He and two others broke through a window of the GMC, and pulled Chapman from the vehicle.
They also performed CPR as he had no pulse and was not breathing. He was transported to Doctor's Medical Center by air ambulance with major injuries, where he is currently being treated.
