According to the CHP on February 1, 2016 around 10:50 AM Craig Cather (64) of Glencoe was driving a 2013 Scion FRS eastbound on Hwy 26 west of Deardorff Road
in the Glencoe area at approximately 40 MPH.
Charles Hochstetler (66) of West Point was driving a 2002 Ford Ranger westbound on Hwy 26 west of Deardorff Road at approximately 55 MPH.
Per CHP Cathers diverted his attention fro the road and allowed his vehicle to cross over the double yellow lines, directly into the path of Hochstetlers' vehicle
The vehicles collided head-on and came to rest blocking both lanes of Hwy 26.
After the collision Cathers was transported by ground ambulance and then flown by helicopter to Modesto Memorial Medical Center for treatment of major injuries.
Hochstetler sustained minor injuries but declined to be transported to the hospital.
Alcohol/and or drugs and not considered to be a factor in this collision.
