Hallard Frank Maxwell of Copperopolis died at home on March 26, 2016 after a long illness. He was 89.
Hal, as he was known to his friends, was born
February 24, 1927 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Hal served in WWII and the Vietnam War in the US Navy and spent 20 years in the US Coast Guard.
After the war he attended Los Angeles City College and then worked as a security
officer for Lockheed Missiles and Space in Sunnyvale for 18 years.
He was associated with the Church of Latter Day Saints in Murphys. He was also a member of the Masons in Huntington Beach Lodge #380 F&AM for 50 years and the Shriners International in San Mateo for 26 years.
Hal was a member of VFW Post 2600 in San Andreas and American Legion Post 102 in Valley Springs.
He was married to Lilia L. Maxwell in 2003. He liked vacations, traveling through the US, gardening, photography and ballroom dancing.
Hal is survived by his wife and care-giver Lilia Maxwell of Copperopolis, step-children Paul K. Maddox of Copperopolis (also a caregiver), Diana (Kent) Bowman of Mountain Ranch, Larry (Kate) Maddox of Benicia and grandson Steve Marler of Vancouver.
Visitation will be Monday April 4, 2016 from 8:30 AM to 10 AM and the Funeral will be on Monday April 4, 2016 at 10 AM at San Andreas Memorial Chapel.
Graveside services will be held at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon.
The family would like to thank the Hospice of the Sierra in Sonora, to which Memorial Contributions can be made in his name.
San Andreas Memorial Chapel is handling arrangements.
