Today, April 29, 2016 the California legislature discussed a bill to name one day in late May as John Wayne Day, his birthday. It was due to racist comments he had made.After it was brought up that he had denounced allowing blacks to be equals, wanting white supremacy to stay in an article in Playboy Magazine, the bill failed. Looks like there won't be a John Wayne Day in California.
