According to CHP on May 2, 2016 around 4:50 PM Angelo Archini (84) of Angels Camp was driving a 2013 Cadillac southbound on Hwy 49 north of Treat Avenue at 2 MPH, slowing for stopping traffic ahead.
Robert Ornelas (59) of Arnold was driving a 2014 Mercedes behind the Cadillac at 5 MPH.
Celina Bowling (37) of Valley Springs was driving a 2012 Chevrolet at an unknown rate of speed behind the Mercedes.
Bowling failed to perceive traffic slowing ahead. The front of her Chevrolet impacted the rear of the Mercedes, propelling it to the right, causing it to collide with a parked Mini Cooper on the curb on Hwy 49.
The Chevrolet continued forward, colliding with the rear of the Cadillac and then came to a stop.
Mr. Archini applied the brakes of the Cadillac and came to a stop. All parties waited for CHP to arrive at the collision scene.
Mr. Archini and his passenger Jessie Archini (79) were transported to Mark Twain Medical Center with minor injuries.
Alcohol and or drugs were not considered to be a factor in this collision, per CHP.
