Dear Mr. New Sheriff DiBasilio:
You made false statements during your interviews that we feel we must call you on.
First you said this community was united as one, tight-knit.
Then you said it needs to be brought back together. Which is it, Mr. NEW Sheriff??
As citizens, residents who have had to deal with the corrupt and incompetent Sheriff's Department, backed up by the District Attorney, we could give you an earful of real TRUTH!
We feel you are not nearly qualified enough to be a Sheriff and that you will have absolutely no ability to handle the deputies or get along with the abused residents that we hear about continually.
Mr. Kuntz, whom you seem to say you have been anointed by, was an alcoholic and an abuser of women who came into contact with him. Copying him is a big mistake.
Enjoy your time sitting in the BIG CHAIR playing with the crazies just like he did!
This letter is on behalf of all the people, and especially women who were treated with corrupt and abusive behavior ordered by Mr. Kuntz!

Those are serious accusations made to a public official who is under oath to protect the citizens of Calaveras County. Alcoholism is a very problematic point with law enforcement but if you have direct evidence it could be submitted for his review/ or dismissal. Masagany by a peace officer is of the lowest caliber of treatment that a woman could receive as well as at a traumatic period in her life due to whatever situation has brought the police to her need

What about the fact that DeBasilio was ranked the least qualified by the panel of three law enforcement officials commissioned by the Board of Supervisors to assist in their selection of a new sheriff. When it would have been logical in the final selection process to interview only the two or three most qualified, the Board decided to interview all five, with the obvious intent of getting deBasilio in front of them, so they could appoint the choice of their hidden agenda. What a sickening pack of worthless incompetents.
