On August 18, 2016 around 4:15 PM Evan Jacob Smith (37) of Sonora was driving a 1998 Ford on Hwy 108 near Rushing Hill Lookout Road in Jamestown at an unknown rate of speed.
Briana Melanie Costa (22) of Sonora was a passenger in the car.
For an unknown reason Smith drove off the roadway edge, the car overturned and struck a tree.
Smith succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Costa was transported by ambulance to Sonora Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.
