Per CHP on September 2, 2016 around 9 AM Richard Klidies (41) of Sonora was traveling eastbound on his 2002 Suzuki GSXR-1000 motorcycle on Phoenix Lake Road, west of Bear Cub Drive in the Phoenix Lake area at a high rate of speed.
While attempting to negotiate a left curve in the roadway, he allowed his motorcycle to drift to the right.
The motorcycle ran off the right side of the roadway where it hit the rear of a parked 2003 Chevrolet pickup.
Klidies was thrown from his motorcycle. He was wearing a helmet during the initial impact. He was flown with major head and body trauma to Doctors Medical Center due to his severe injuries.
