Per CHP, on October 24, 2016 at approximately 4:20 PM John Paul Fischer (75) of Stockton, was driving a 2010 Toyota, which was stopped at the intersection of Meko Drive and Hwy 4, preparing to make a left hand turn from Meko Drive onto westbound Hwy 4.
Kimberly Gillin (55) of Sacramento, was driving a 2003 Jeep eastbound on Hwy 4 approaching Meko Drive.
The collision occurred when Fischer pulled out onto Hwy 4 directly in front of Gillin. Gillin attempted to take evasive action to avoid the Toyota, but subsequently the front of the Jeep collided with the drivers side of the Toyota.
Both vehicles came to rest in the intersection of Hwy 4 and Meko Drive. Despite efforts of emergency personnel on scene, Mr. Fischer was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Gillin was taken to Mark Twain Hospital with moderate injuries.
Alcohol/Drugs are not believed to be a factor in this collision per CHP.
