John E. DeBert was born on May 11, 1937 and passed away on October 12, 2016.It is with great sadness that John Passed away after a brief fight with cancer at 79 years of age.
He has lived in his dream home for 19 years in the Sierras. He loved the Sierras since he was a young man. During his teen years, he climbed Half Dome.
He was also an Ansel Adams fan. He loved all western movies and programs, was an avid backpacker and volunteered with the YMCA wilderness group.
He took kids on backpacking trips along with his own children, to places like the Anza Borrego Desert, enjoying their adventures there. He was a mountain man at heart.
John retired from IBM as a senior machinist after 35 years.
He is survived by his wife Rae DeBert, son David and daughters Laura, Diana and Jennifer. He was loved and liked by so many friends he met in his lifetime and his family.
