In fact, we are a
REPUBLIC!! The Electoral College was put in place by the Founders to make sure we are NOT a pure Democracy! Now that we have an Authoritarian ruler in the country, we must suffer the consequences.
Many see internment camps for those who are NOT White Supremacists, black and brown people being jailed for no reason and Trump grabbing more and more power away from the people.
Is this what we wanted???? For the KKK and the NRA to be in charge???? Because of the Electoral College, someone like Trump can get into office and TYRANIZE the country!

Maybe you should check out the Pledge of Allegiance.
We shouldn't be forced to say the pledge, I don't think. it's not in the constitution. We need to change the constitution. People in England think we're kind of nuts to have an "electoral College" because the masses can't be trusted to vote for the right person.
My comment about the pledge was to direct you to the word Republic not to say the pledge. We say the pledge to honor our wonderful Country and also honor our flag. The constitution has worked for over 200 years. Nothing has changed because Trump won the election. Those who are crying because their candidate didn't win should just grow up. I am sure if Hillary had won we wouldn't be hearing all this dribble. It was a surprise to all of the Country last Tuesday. What's done is done. We need to go on and make the best of it. We need to wish good luck to the incoming President because if he succeeds then the Country will, too.
