For the past 48 hours Calaveras County and especially Ebbetts Pass have received storm after storm, amounting to piled up snow in the mountains and flooding in the foothills. An army of PG&E and SMCI trucks headed up Hwy 4 yesterday and again this morning.
PG&E should be congratulated, as they mounted an all-out effort to restore power when many areas lost it due to downed trees, and heavy snow. Some areas above 3500' experienced 8-10 hours without power. Wireless internet and Comcast TV were also affected Comcast is still out widespread.
The Calaveras County Sheriff's Office has issued a warning to use extreme caution if traveling on Hwy 4 east of Murphys and all connecting roads off Hwy 4 due to downed power lines.
