PUBLIC NOTICE:
Notice is hereby given that, due to unscheduled vacancies and expiration of terms, the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors encourages interested and qualified Persons to apply for membership to the following County boards, committees or commissions.
ASSESSMENT APPEALS BOARD
Act in a quasi-judicial capacity in determining the full value of property or to determine other
matters of property tax assessment over which the appeals board has jurisdiction.
Applicants must be a registered voter and full-time resident of Calaveras County. In accordance with Section 1624 of the Revenue and Taxation Code, applicants must have a minimum of five years professional experience within California as a certified public accountant or public accountant, a licensed real estate broker, an attorney, a property appraiser accredited by a nationally recognized professional organization or a property appraiser certified by the Office of Real Estate Appraisers.
The Appeals Board meets quarterly; however, members are not required to serve for all meetings. Members will be required to attend a County new extra-hire orientation and payroll enrollment meeting and are also required to file a Statement of Economic Interest - Form 700 upon appointment, annually and when leaving office.
Members are appointed for a four year term. One vacancy for an unexpired term ending 9/01/2020-Member 1
COUNTY SERVICE AREA # 1 - Rancho Calaveras
To act in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors with respect to improvement and maintenance of roads within CSA # 1.
Two vacancies for unexpired terms ending 12/31/19 - Members 4 and 5.
MURPHYS CEMETERY DISTRICT
The purpose is to address the continuing need to provide for the respectful and cost-effective interment of human remains to meet the cultural, economic, religious and social needs of California's diverse communities.
Additional responsibilities include the maintenance of the cemetery. 4 year terms, unlimited number of terms.
Members are required to file a Statement of Economic Interest - Form 700 upon appointment annually and when leaving office.

Two vacancies for unexpired terms ending 12/31/19 - Members 1 & 2
PREVENT CHILD ABUSE COUNCIL
The duties of the Council shall include but are not limited to the following: 1. Promoting public awareness of child abuse and neglect and the resources available for prevention, intervention and treatment through public forums and awareness campaigns.
2. Identifying and addressing gaps in services for child abuse and neglect situations through on-going needs assessment. The Council shall work with other county organizations to perform on-going needs assessment regarding the prevention of child abuse and neglect in Calaveras County.
3. Identifying and/or coordinating the provision of training opportunities.
4. Promoting collaboration and countywide planning for the provision of child abuse and neglect prevention services to children and youth.
5. Develop and implement a strategic plan that addresses the prevention of child abuse and neglect in Calaveras County.
6. Support and promote the expansion of best practices in treatment services to victims of child abuse and neglect and their families in Calaveras County.
7. Review reports provided by staff to the council.
8. Complete fiscal report for in-kind services.
The Council meets on the fourth Thursday of every other month from 3 to 5 pm. 2 year terms, unlimited number of terms.

Completed applications must be returned to the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors at the above address, by FAX or by email no later than 4:30 PM February 10, 2017.
If no applications are received by the advertised deadline or applications are withdrawn, do not meet requirements, are invalid, etc., the County will continue to accept applications beyond the deadline until the vacancy is filled.

The Chief Administrative Officer, Building Official, Sheriff, Auditor, Treasurer/Tax Collector, Environmental Management Agency Director, Public Works Director, and Planning Director all recommend that when the extension of the urgency ordinance is considered on February 14, 2017 that the Board of Supervisors extend the ordinance for the additional year as allowed by state law.
