At the April 11, 2017 Calaveras Supervisor meeting, the board asked Jeff Krovitz of Public Works about the death of the tree worker last week.
Krovitz said that tree work is dangerous and that these people do the work for the benefit of the people. He called them Domestic soldiers, protecting the public. He stated that safety has been beefed up due to the accident.
A member of the public said that the pile of rocks, mine tailings, were being protected and that was why the man died.
