According to CHP on May 19, 2017 at approximately 10:25 AM Ronald Torchia (52) of Columbia was driving a 2007 Ford on Hwy 4 east of Stallion Way, below Angels Camp at 55-60 MPH.
Robert Howard (60) of Tracy was driving a 1997 Nissan west of Stallion Way at approximately 45 MPH.
For unknown reasons Torchia lost control of the Ford and entered into the right shoulder. He then over-corrected back into the westbound lane, crossing into the eastbound lane.
Consequently, the front end of the Ford collided with the front end of the Nissan. Torchia was taken to Mark Twain Hospital with minor injuries.
Robert Howard was flown to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto with major injuries. Nancy Howard (58) of Tracy, a passenger in the Nissan, was pronounced dead at the scene .
The collision is still under investigation. Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in this collision.
