There is quite a bit of controversy over SB 10 in California. Some say it's nothing more than a 'get out of jail free' card.
However, the fact is that the bail system is set up for those who have money to go free on bail if they commit a crime and for the poor to stay locked up for endless amounts of time, just waiting for trial.
This system means that most minorities who are arrested are detained in jail for minor crimes, since they are not rich enough to pay bail. High bail is supposed to be a deterrent NOT to commit crimes, but that doesn't seem to work either.
So what is the answer. SB 10 may pass soon.

This should be interesting. Who authored it? Who supports it? Who will vote for it? Kinda funny, since the democrats rule the California roost.
