Overturned pickup on Hwy 4

   July 31, 2017 at 8 PM:  A full size Chevy pickup has reportedly overturned on Hwy 4 between Poole Station Road and Hunt Road.

   Injuries have not been indicated. The truck is on its side off the roadway. A tow truck is responding.

Rollover on Hwy 26

   July 30, 2017 at 8 AM:  A vehicle has rolled over on Hwy 26 at Wimer Road below Rancho Calaveras.

   Be cautious as emergency vehicles arrive at the scene.

Protest over animal cruelty???

   The Sierra Sentinel was invited to participate in a protest over the apparent death of a dog caused by a pet kennel over this weekend.  There is no excuse for any type of animal cruelty.

   As soon as we see protests outside the house of the dog poisoners and their co-hort at a vet, we will be glad to be supportive.  No dirty cop and their wife-conspirators should EVER be allowed to get away with abusing animals!!!

   

Jacksonville Fire 60% contained

   July 30, 2017 at 8:15 AM:  The Jacksonville Fire is reported to be 690 acres but is now 60% contained.

   No indicated has been given of any homes destroyed so far in this fire.

Traffic collision in Mountain Ranch

   July 30, 2017 at 8:15 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported on Murray Creek Road and Railroad Flat Road in Mountain Ranch.

   CHP and an ambulance are en route to the scene.  A vehicle left the roadway and hit a tree or a fence and is partially blocking the roadway.

Jacksonville Fire grows quickly

   As of late on July 29, 2017 Cal Fire reports that the Jacksonville Fire in Jamestown had grown to 600 acres, but was 30% contained.

   Mandatory evacuations had been lifted although advisories were in effect.

 July 29, 2017 at 6:35 PM:  Air traffic has just indicated a fire near the 49er RV Park on Italian Bar Road in Columbia.

   Fire personnel have been dispatched to the area.  This one is being referred to as the Italian IC.

   UPDATE at 6:30 PM:  This fire is now contained at around 20 acres.  Some released to the Jacksonville Fire.

  July 29, 2017 at 6 PM:  Cal Fire is battling a 230+ acre fire that was first reported at around 1:30 PM on Jacksonville Road, south of Jamestown.

   Mandatory evacuations are taking place in the area.  Air units are assisting in this fast moving fire.

   July 29, 2017 at 11:05 AM:  A vehicle collision has been reported on Hwy 4 at Tom Bell Road in Murphys.

    Two vehicles were involved. Hwy 4 is blocked. CHP is en route to the scene. Be cautious if headed that way.

   We recently received a comment from a source at USFS that Mr. Oliveira's shooting contest for children cannot be done on USFS property.

   At 5:02 PM on July 28, 2017 an earthquake hit just off the coast of California near Eureka.

   The newest aircraft carrier, capable of holding 75 planes, has two nuclear reactors and is over 1000' long.

   Named the USS Gerald Ford, the cost of the carrier was $12.9 billion.

'Home Alone' dad John Heard found dead

   John Heard, most famous for playing the part of the dad in 'Home Alone', was found dead in a Palo Alto hotel room by authorities.

   He was 72. An investigation is ongoing, but authorities say it is not suspicious at this time.

Chris Matthews: Trump really...

   Chris Matthews has said what most of us are thinking.  That is that Trump really believes he and his family are ABOVE THE LAW?

Detwiler Fire 25% contained

   As of 7:45 PM on July 21, 2017 the Detwiler Fire was reported by CalFire as 75,000 acres and 25% contained.
 
    61 residences have been destroyed, 63 what they are describing a MINOR structures, have been destroyed and 1 commercial structure has been destroyed.  Also 13 residences have been damaged, and 6 MINOR structures have been damaged so far.

Collision in Murphys

   July 21, 2017 at 9:10 PM:  A solo vehicle collision has been reported on Sheep Ranch Road at Main Street in Murphys.

   CHP and an ambulance are responding to the scene. The vehicle apparently went through a fence.

Detwiler Fire in Mariposa County

  As of 4 PM on July 21, 2017 CalFire reports that the Detwiler Fire is 74,083 acres and is 15% contained.

   Evacuations have been lifted for Mariposa. 58 homes have been destroyed, 60 structures destroyed  and 11 residences have been damaged by this fire.

Oh, the name calling by CalFire employees....

  During the length, but telling interview the NYT did with Trump, he made it clear that Mueller has no right to investigate his or his finances, or taxes.

   The warning was pretty clear. He is so scared of his tax forms being released, he sounds like he would fire Mueller to prevent it.  This is bloodcurdling and a constitutional crisis could be a hand.

   For some reason CalFire is reporting that only 500 more acres burned today in the Detwiler Fire in Mariposa County.

   Still it is only 10% contained. 50 homes have burned and many other structures have been
destroyed or damaged.

Finally!! Target Shooting restrictions

   In a press release the Bureau of Land Management in El Dorado Hills has issued an emergency target shooting restriction on public lands managed by BLM in 15 counties.

   Beginning today, July 20, no target shooting will be allowed to be fire due to high fire potential.  This remains in effect until fire dangers subside.
