Valley Springs resident and elementary school teacher Rochelle Aline Pena passed away from peritoneal cancer at the age
of 59 on August 25, 2017.
Born in San Francisco on January 18, 1958, Rochelle graduated from Bret Harte High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in education and a Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition from San Jose State University.
She and Rey treasured 35 wonderful years together after marrying on November 21, 1981. Rochelle enjoyed painting, gardening, baking and taking long nature walks.
She is survived by her husband, Rey, and their three children; Jacqueline, Theresa and Nathan. She is also survived by her three sisters; Suzanne, Lorna and Carolyn and her brother Charles, as well as many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.
Her service will be held on Thursday August 31 at the Buena Vista Cemetery in Murphys. Shortly
thereafter a gathering will be held in her memory at the historic Murphys Grammar School.
Her family would like to thank the Bristol Foundation for their dedication invaluable service as well as all the kind souls who cared for Rochelle during her difficult journey.
