Caltrans is gearing up for winter by taking applications to be a chain installer on Hwy 4, 88, 89, 108 and 207 for the 2017-18 snow season.
Alpine, Calaveras, Amador and
Tuolumne counties will all need chain installers. A mandatory orientation class will be held on October 26, 2017 at 9 AM at the Angels Camp Caltrans yard at 98 So. Main St. for new installers.
Returning installers may purchase their permit at the Angels Camp yard. The cost is $200. You can call them at 736-0187.
Believe it or not, Calaveras County Tax Collector is demanding chain installers have a business license to install chains. Call Barbara Sullivan at 754-6350.
