Gregory M. Fowler
March 1, 1949 to February 8, 2018
From an historic Los Gatos family, native Gregory M. Fowler "Greg", 67, died after an 11 year stoic fight with cancer at Mark Twain Hospital in San Andreas, with his
family by his side on February 8, 2018.
Greg was born March 1, 1949 and lived in the adobe brick Los Gator Summit home that his parents built an molded the bricks of; a house that still stands today.
HE was son to Los Gator lifelong residents, the late Robert H. Fowler, a Southern Pacific Railroad employee, who served in WWII, and the late Geraldine "Mina" Fowler, owner of Idamina's Fashions
and Idamina's Annex that was located on North Santa Cruz Avenue.
Greg's maternal Great-grandfather, a 1st Lieutenant for the Union Army in the Civil War, had his children and built early Los Gatos homes in the late 1800's.
His paternal great-grandmother Maud, was born in a covered wagon en route to California in 1876 and lived to see Greg graduate from high school.
Like his father, mother an uncles before him, Greg was a prominent athlete, a three-sport captain and winner of the Don Panighetti award at Los Gatos High School, which happened to be the site where his others family's home once stood in the early 1900's. He played football at LGHS in the 60's and college football for Santa Clara University.
Greg followed the carpentry path and was an accomplished building contractor, working on large and small construction and remodeling projects.
True to his mountain man beginnings, he was an avid outdoorsman, loving hunting, fishing, softball, golf, boating and traveling.
All who knew him were endeared that Greg, a big, burly guy was an extremely sweet. loving an forgiving man.
He is survived by his sister, brother-in law, nieces and nephews, Patricia and Patrick Valdenaire, their children-Danielle, Michelle and Phillip, and Gayle Fowler of San Diego.
There was be a burial prayer service at Los Gatos Memorial Park, where Greg was buried with his Grandfather Harry Fowler on February 19, 2018.
