Are you paying attention? $9.2 million deficit in Calaveras

   The budget hearings moved along with nearly every department, but especially the Sheriff, asking for more and more money.

   At the very end we found out the county has a deficit of more that $9.2 million and it will be worse next year, when the cannabis tax money is gone.

   They are borrowing and borrowing more and using an emergency account to try and cover, but nothing can eliminate the fact that the County of Calaveras is in debt up to its eyebrows!
