According to the Calaveras Sheriff, a deputy was called to the 76 gas station in
Valley Springs around 3:30 AM on August 1, 2018 after an alarm went off.
They arrived to find the front glass door shattered and a male suspect in the parking lot.
Richard Haight of Valley Springs was detained. and through statements and video deputies believed
that Haight allegedly had thrown a large concrete block at the front door and had attempted entry.
Haight was arrested for alleged Vandalism, Attempted Burglary and Possession of Methamphetamine. He was transported to the Calaveras County Jail where he as also booked for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant out of Tuolumne County.
Per their report, Haight has further alleged charges pending after they say he assaulted another inmate in custody. He bail is still pending.
