Dear Editor:
I have concerns over the discussion by Supervisor Garamendi about whether District 2 is able to get legal notices with the Calaveras County News (Valley Springs News) publicizing them.
First of all, I am not a real fan of right wing newspapers, and I can clearly see that Clapp, Mills and Tofanelli support the current contract.
But it is a legal contract. The Enterprise failed to bid on time two years ago, and I remember that the VS paper way underbid what the Enterprise had been charging.
The publish twice a week and the Enterprise only prints once, and they print in Calaveras, where the Enterprise prints in Galt or somewhere else.
Politics aside, a contract is a contract. It took years before the VS News got that contract and they got it completely properly and legally.
In the Bay Area, the major papers like the Mercury News don't get the legals, a small paper in Campbell gets them, at least last time I checked.
So, Mr. Garamendi, please don't try to cause trouble because you are an advisor for the Enterprise. Isn't that a conflict of interest?
If the Enterprise wants the legals back, they can bid again in 2 years.
A in Mountain Ranch
