According to the Calaveras Sheriff's Office on December 16, 2018 a deputy attempted to initiate an enforcement stop on Hwy 12 east of Toyon on a motorcycle
for passing over double yellow lines.
The driver of the motorcycle failed to yield and continued eastbound on Hwy 12 towards San
Andreas, with a deputy in pursuit.
The motorcyclist continued onto northbound Hwy 49 at speeds greater than 100 MPH, down Main Street in Mokelumne Hill, the onto Center Street and back onto Hwy 49.
He then traveled eastbound on Hwy 26 onto Jesus Maria Road, where he lost control of the motorcycle.
The driver, identified as 24-year-old Robert Simi (24), of Mountain Ranch, was not injured as a result of laying down the motorcycle and was then taken into custody without incident.
Simi was wearing a backpack that contained an RPB Mac 11 fully automatic submachine gun with a high capacity magazine.
Simi is currently being held in the Calaveras County Jail for charges including alleged Felony Evasion and Weapons charges. Bail is $125,000.
