January 6, 2019 with family and friends by her side.
The daughter of Silvio and Desdemona Rossetti, Janet was born in San Francisco, but spent most of her life in Calaveras County, where her father Silvio started Rossettis Restaurant in Wallace in 1923.
Janet, a graduate of Calaveras High School was crowned Belle of the Camp in 1951. She then
There in San Francisco she met and married Art Novotny. They moved back to Calaveras County where she called home the rest of her life.
Janet continued her career as a legal secretary for the Airola Law Firm in San Andreas for 25 years. She married Bob Bailey in 1973, and they were married until his passing in 1998.
After the death of her brother Geno, Janet and her sister Noreen ran the popular Rossetti's Restaurant until it sold.
You could always find her in the restaurant where she did everything from hosting, bartending, cleaning and of course cooking all the Rossetti family recipes.
She was known for her generous heart, ability to host and epic Cioppino feed and she never, ever let you leave hungry!
After Janet's retirement from the restaurant, she enjoyed working in the yard, a good meal with friends/family, and of course, loving her beloved poodle Gina and cat Stinkerpie.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Jennifer Novotny of Sacramento, daughter Janeen Betterfield (Brian) of Vancouver, WA, two grandsons, Jack and Luke Butterfield, nephews Ray (Yvonne), Ron and Rex (Karen) Sellick and many nieces and nephews.
Janet loved her friends and neighbors in Wallace and the girls are incredibly grateful for all their help.
Rosary will be recited on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 7 PM at Angels Memorial Chapel and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 14, 2019 at 10 AM at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Lockeford.
