UPDATE from Angels Camp Police on Pruden arrest

We received a press release from the Angels Camp Police that on March 31, 2019 at approximately 6:50 PM officers attempted to make a routine traffic stop of a white SUV
in the area of Gardner Lane and Holly Street for vehicle code violations.

The vehicle failed to yield to the officers lights and siren and continued to drive at approximately
10-15 MPH through the Gardner Lane area.

The driver drove through an outdoor party being held in one of the neighborhoods where children and adults were present in the street, according to the report.

After driving approximately 1 mile through Gardner Lane, Casey Street and Holly Street, the driver stopped.

The driver was identified at 32 year old Dustin Pruden, with an adult passenger in the front seat and a child in the back seat. The adult was identified as the parent of the child.  They were released at the scene.

Per the report, Pruden was placed under arrest for three outstanding Calaveras County warrants. Then the vehicle was searched.

Officers located stolen property including tools, paperwork, photos, checks and bank cards.  The property was seized and is being returned to its rightful owners.

Pruden was arrested and transported to the Calaveras County Jail. While en route Pruden attempted to destroy a small plastic baggie containing methamphetamine in the back seat of the patrol car.

He was charged with alleged Willful Cruelty to a Child, Evading a Peace Officer, Driving with a suspended license, Receiving Stolen Property, Possess of a controlled Substance and  Destroying Concealed Evidence, in addition to the outstanding warrants.
