Ronald Joseph Schmid of Angels Camp

    On Tuesday, December 31, 2019 Ronald Joseph Schmid, devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed
away at the age of 79.

   Ron was born October 6, 1940 in San Francisco. He and his brother Robert grew up in the Bay
Area.

   Ron and his family moved to San Mateo where he graduated from Serra High School and joined the military, where he served 4 years in the Marines.

   After serving in the military, Ron joined the Redwood City Police Department and eventually moved to Calaveras County where he served the remainder of his professional career with the Calaveras County Sheriff's Department along side his loving wife, Amy Schmid.

   Ron had a passion for the community and was involved throughout his life.  He and Amy were active members of the ICF at St. Patrick's Church in Angels Camp. Ron also loved to grow his garden every year and tend to his road side farm stand.

   Ron was known for his sarcastic sense of humor and could keep anyone on their toes with his sly jokes.

   Ron was preceded in death by his wife, Amy. He is survived by his brother Robert (Mavis) Schmid; sons Robert Schmid and Kenneth Sterrett; daughter Debra (James) Harris; grandchildren Anthony (Kelsey) Sterrett and Micheal Sterrett; great-granddaughter Shyanne Sterrett and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

   The viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 from 1 PM to 6 PM, followed by the Rosary at 6 PM at the Angels Memorial Chapel.

   Mass of Christian Burial will occur on Thursday, January 9, 2020 at 11 AM at St. Patrick's Church in Angels Camp. Flowers may be sent to Angels Memorial Chapel, who is handling arrangements.
