On February 19, 2020 CHP attempted to stop a motorcycle for speeding on Milton Road near Jenny Lind.
The driver of the motorcycle,
Joseph Dykes (37) of Modesto, failed to yield and fled the scene at a high rate of speed, with a passenger Kyleigh Peterson.
The pursuit, with CHP using lights and siren, continued through Valley Springs and onto Hwy 12 and Hwy 49 in San Andreas.
During the chase, CHP noticed items being thrown alongside the roadway out of a backpack and pockets. Dykes crossed over both lanes of traffic during the chase.
Dykes eventually stopped the motorcycle on Hwy 49 and both were taken into custody. Items thrown from the vehicle were not located.
Dykes was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged felony evading an officer, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of a replica firearm, along with numerous traffic violations.
His passenger Kyleigh Peterson (28) of San Andreas, was booked for allegedly Resisting Arrest, Drug Paraphernalia and a Replica Firearm.
Both suspects had outstanding warrants from Amador County.
