Angels Camp man hurt in collision

    According to CHP on April 15, 2021 around 5:20 PM Gabriel Fernandez (34) of Modesto was driving a Nissan Murano southbound on Burson Road near Hwy 12.

(55) of Angels Camp was driving a 2009 Dodge tow truck on Hwy 12 when Fernandez pulled out right in front of the tow truck.

   After the tow truck struck the Nissan, it ran off the roadway and into the Burson Market, causing the overhang to collapse.

   The tow truck then collided into an unoccupied pickup that was parked under overhang and then went on to rear end a Toyota Tundra parked near the market.

   After the collision the Nissan traveled off the roadway and into a barbed wire fence, coming to rest in a field.

   Mr. Franks sustained major injuries and was flown to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto. Mr. Fernandez was flown to Modesto Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries. 

   Mr. Fernandez was arrested for DUI causing injuries and was booked into the Calaveras County Jail.
