Evacuations lifted in Airola Fire
Parrots Ferry Road is reopening tonight, per CHP, as crews gain control over the Airola Fire.
Also residents evacuated during the fire may return to their homes.

August 18, 2021 at 2:40 PM: A vehicle has rolled over on Hwy 88 at Columbia Drive in Carson Pass area.
The westbound lane is blocked. An ambulance is responding.
Two grass fires in Sonora
August 18, 2021 at 2:45 PM: Two grass fires have been reported on Algerine Road near Stent Cutoff Road in the Sonora area.
Several engines and water tenders are responding to the scene. Fires are approximately 1/2 mile apart.

There doesn't seem to be any stopping the Dixie Fire. Some have told us it will have to rain or snow and could be stopped in November.
So far, as of August 18, 2021 at 8:35 AM Calfire shows 626,751 acres destroyed, 20,000 more than yesterday. Containment remains at 31%.

That is 25,000 more acres than reported yesterday by Calfire. Now they are issuing evacuations near Susanville, as the fire is headed in that direction.
Caldor Fire in El Dorado County
As of August 17, 2021 the Caldor Fire has grown to 6500 acres and caused many evacuations in the Grizzly Flats area.
Some homes have already been destroyed. It appears to have started near the Consumnes River. It iss 0% contained.

The caller apparently reported that a woman had a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

That is quite a rise in cases since earlier in the summer.
Dixie Fire gains another 10,000 acres overnight
As of August 12, 2021 at 8 AM the Dixie Fire is 510,600 acres, 10,000 more than yesterday at the same time.
This fire just keeps on growing. How will they ever stop it. They changed the estimated containment date to August 30, ten days later than the earlier estimate.

August 5, 2021 at 2:40 PM: A collision has been reported on Hwy 4 at Tom Bell Road in Murphys.
No injuries have been indicated. It has been moved off the roadway.
Car strikes juvenile
August 5, 2021 at 1 PM: It was just reported that a car struck a juvenile on Mountain Ranch Road (Mark Twain Hospital) in a hit and run.
Apparently this occurred last night. There were injuries. CHP is investigating.
Pickup takes down power lines
August 5, 2021 at 12:30 PM: A pickup reportedly took out power lines while attempting to back up on a curve on Darby Russell Road near the Red Apple.
No injuries have been indicated. Calaveras Sheriff's Office was notified of a possible 415 offense.
