Arrest in Arnold for theft

    On November 11, 2023, Calaveras deputies were called to a residence on Ponderosa Road in Arnold, regarding a physical fight.

    According to the Sheriff, Donovan Shinn,

age 54, of Arnold, reported being attacked by the property owner, who had offered him a place to stay in exchange for cleaning it up.

   The property owner confronted Shinn about allegedly stolen tools and a physical encounter ensued.

   After the altercation, the property owner found multiple stashes of stolen tolls around the property the Shinn had allegedly taken from his house.

   Shinn claimed that all the tools belonged to him, but the property owner identified his faded initials on the equipment.

   Shinn was taken into custody and booked into the Calaveras County Jail on charges of alleged grand theft, burglary and possession of burglary tools.
