As of 7 AM on June 18, 2024 the Aero Fire which started on Rock Creek Road and Hwy 4 had burned 5249 acres. It is now 20% contained.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Three structures have been indicated as destroyed and one damaged. 43 engines and many air tankers are assigned to this fire.
Evacuations have been ordered in many neighborhoods in the Copperopolis area between Poole Station Road and Main Street. Hwy 4 is closed between Poole Station Road and Main Street in Copperopolis.
One firefighter was taken to the hospital with injuries.
