Drug and weapon arrest in Valley Springs

    On May 29, 2024 around 10 PM Calaveras deputies say John Robert Blackwell (37)

of Stockton, parked at a gas station on Hwy 26.

   Suspect Blackwell was placed under arrest for two felony warrants out of Sacramento County without incident.

   When Sergeant Buie deployed his cross-trained narcotic detection canine Titan to conduct a vehicle sniff, the dog alerted to controlled substances inside.

   After searching, the deputy located approximately 28 grams of suspected fentanyl (enough for 28,000 people), a knuckle taser device, burglary tools, and mail from multiple people.

   Blackwell was taken to Calaveras County Jail and booked for allegedly two warrants, possession of fentanyl for sale, transportation of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of burglary tools and possession of a dangerous weapon.
