Head on collision on Hwy 49

    On September 2, 2024 around 11:45 AM Josh Noel Freitas (49) of San Andreas was driving his

1993 Chevy Silverado on Hwy 49 near Big Bar Road.

    William Langdon Rennie (73) of San Andreas was driving a 2016 Ford CMax in the opposite direction on Hwy 49, approaching the Silverado with one passenger Connie S. Rennie (77) of San Andreas.

   Freitas failed to negotiate a right hand curve and allaowed his vehicle to travel over the double yellow lines, directly into the path of the Ford. 

   After the collision the Silverado traveled across the southbound lane and off the roadway. He then collided with a barbed wire fence and continued down a steep embankment, overturned and the roof impacted a tree.  Freitas succumbed to his injuries.

The Rennie's suffered no injuries in the collision.  The collision is still under investigation.
